Saturday October 20, 2002 was Napa County branches first “Green-Up” Day. Here is a photo of twelve of the thirteen members who turned out to make the 1-mile stretch of Silverado Trail by Hardman Ave. sparkle.
It was a very productive day. Can you believe that over 12 bags of trash were picked up? One little girl was overheard asking her mother what all those ladies had done to go to prison! Our members certainly do not consider themselves prison gang road workers but enjoy the friendly comradery, which comes from working together doing a community service. At the start of our cleanup, members met every few months but now they green-up two times a year. When they are picking up trash, decked out in their reflective vests and gloves, neighbors who drive by wave with a smile and say thank you! Dates of adopt-a-road are always listed in the TWIG and on our calendar. To join this cheerful and energetic group, call Bernice at 257-8639.
